Last few weeks

Yes, finally I am posting. There has not much been going on here, except for my wife going on vacation without me. Besides being one of the most relaxing vacations she has ever had (not because I wasn't there) she had a exciting time hanging out with her sister.

The destination of choice was south Florida.
Here is her sister Paula at the southernmost point in the US.
That seems like it would be a lot of fun.
The girls have officially gone wild.
Classic beach pic
I guess the sunsets were like this every night.
Another beach scene.
Here is the wife entering the everglades.
And here she is going really crazy. Note to self: make sure Brenda knows you cannot do this to a live animal.
Easy there fella. Man you leave this girl alone for one minute and the vultures are on her like stink on s***.
Is that gator smiling??? I would be as well.

So here it is. Yesterday I had a ok day, but something surprised me. I saw a rattlesnake in the grass right outside of my door as I was about to get out of my truck. I did what any red blooded man would do....got a shovel and went to work. The snake did not have a chance. If you have never skinned a snake, it is kind of weird as the snake has some reflexes that even without a head it tried to strike you. That is a weird feeling. 20min. later it was skinned and gutted.
Tonight I got to eat it as Brenda had something at school and she thought it was kind of gross. I cooked it up and it tasted...not bad. Kind of freaky looking, but better than the last time I cooked it.
This is what my night looked like. The beer and advrider.com are normal, but the snake was an added benefit.
Finally got a promotion at work. It is about time since I have working the new position for about 5 months free for the company. Boy do they know how to string you along.

OMG! John...you did not eat snake!?! You are seriously crazy. =) I'm just glad Brenda didn't have to eat it...or maybe she did! And she just doesn't want to admit she LOVED it!?! Anyways, so glad I got to experience this with you. Thanks for posting.

Rattlesnake...Mmmmm!! I like the presentation! Nice spiral. How did you season it...salt and pepper? Maybe a little butter and garlic too?

Congrats on the promotion at work! We are looking forward to seeing you and Brenda this summer too.

Ummmm NASTY!!!! Almost made me want to puke just looking at the pic of the snake. You should have made Brenda post pics of her trip, I'm thinking the dialogue would have been a bit more descriptive:)

Garlic and EVOO and a little basil as well. Brenda almost puked in her mouth as well when she saw it. I was required to get it out of the house before she got home. Really just trying to provide for the family, but I guess what I have is not enough.

I loved the pictures of Florida, though. Looks and sounds like an awesome trip. Congrats on the promo, though, John. That's great news!

Congratulations on your promotion, John!

Was that southernmost point in Key West? I lived there for 2-1/2 years when my dad was stationed at the Naval Air Station there and I seem to remember it had the southernmost point.

I agree with others regarding the snake: EWWW EWWW EWWWW and YUCK!

John-Larry Mansperger (Tuolumne) would be so proud of you. I don't think your Dad could eat it in it's spiral condition (too real looking)but if you cut it up in small pieces maybe. I on the other hand would graciously refuse the offer. Brenda, great pictures!
